I do love to travel and the best part is bringing home a souvenir to remember your journey. On our vacation we decided that we would bite the bullet and check our bags. We knew it would cost extra but we thought it would be so much easier than trying to schlep all of our stuff through the airport. We each took a big bag disguised as a purse and checked our regular luggage. This worked great in theory, especially on the going part of the trip. The problem started when we tried to pack to come home. We had purchased warm clothes in Maine because for two days we enjoyed the effects of a near Nor-easter. We also bought two cozy blankets and a huge puzzle for the afternoon we spent inside because the weather was so bad. The rest of the problem started when I decided to make a "few" purchases that I was sure would fit inside our already bulging suitcases. The list included: Two antique fire place andirons, a four foot rabbit made from vintage bead board, four large bags of ephemera, Christmas decorations, buttons, a rosary, a green banded pottery bowl, assorted cookie cutters, a hand tinted picture, two water colors (not framed), a H bar C fringed Western shirt, ten pine cones, twenty acorns, gold cookie sprinkles...well, you've got the picture. I will have to say that we shoved everything in exceptfor the rabbit which we had to have shipped. My biggest fear was that the TSA would open our bags and when the contents flew out it would indeed be our misfortune to have to under go a complete strip search. This on the end of a two big binge of Lobster and every other imaginable food and beverage. It would not have been a pretty sight. Luckily all went well and we got home with everything. We are still waiting for the rabbit to arrive. And did I mention that I kept leaving all the magazines that I had purchased at the places we stayed. Our family and friends will be sure to find them and wonder what was I thinking. I will justify it by saying "I thought they might work like bread crumbs to help me find my way back."
This really made me laugh! A 4 FOOT rabbit?? Andirons?
Too funny!
